Queen Anne Little League Offers Umpiring Basics Classes

QALL is offering umpiring rules & skills clinics for new umpires, as well as for parents who would like to know more about the basics of umpiring and calling a game. Classes will be held on Tuesday, March 26th and Thursday, March 28th from 7-9pm at the QA Community Center. All are welcome, and no special knowledge or experience is necessary to participate. These classes are particularly targeted at calling games at the AAA level of baseball & softball.

"But I'm not an umpire!" you say. QALL has been tremendously fortunate to have a dedicated core of umpires for many years, but now we need your help to ensure appropriate umpire coverage for our AAA, Majors, Juniors Baseball, and Softball games. We are lucky to have 14 teams total at these various levels. Enrollment continues to stay high, but we need people to help call games and give our kids a great experience. Please consider joining one of the training sessions next week to learn the basics, even if you are only able to assist with a few games this season.

Our amazing longtime umpires Dan Trefethen, Joe Murphy, and Steve Krom will lead these classes. Dan will also lead an on field clinic soon - more information to come shortly.

Thank you!

Mariners Grand Slam Camps

The Mariners offer summer baseball and softball camps in Washington and Oregon. Mariners Grand Slam Camps provide a unique experience developing skills for all players, whether they are beginners or advanced. Campers are grouped by age and ability and coached by professional educators, former pros and current college players. This allows the instruction and experience to match the level of all campers who attend.

Visit Mariners Grand Slam Camps for more information.

Little League Challenger Division Registration Open

Little League Challenger Division Registration Open

Our Washington District 8 Challenger Division was started in 1991 by Gary and Bev Newsome to give children with intellectual and physical disabilities a chance to play ball. Today, the program flourishes with six teams totaling almost 100 players throughout the greater Seattle area. The program is supported by the 12 Little Leagues making up Washington District 8, as well as the Seattle Mariners, who continue to create special memories for these players.

Our 2019 WA District 8 Challenger season will start with practices in mid-April. Games will run twice per week from May 1st through mid-June, culminating in an end-of-the season jamboree held at Northshore Athletic Fields (NAF) in Woodinville. Registration for our 2019 Little League Challenger season is now open until March 31st at www.llwadistrict8.org. For questions regarding this year’s program, please contact Bev Newsome at (360) 805-0181 or .
