General Information

To be considered for selection as a representative of QALL on an all-star team, the parent/guardian of each player will sign a Letter of Commitment. The Letter of Commitment includes agreement with eligibility requirements, which include (but may not be limited to):

All-star teams are differentiated by age as follows:

  • 8, 9 and 10 year old baseball division and softball division

  • 9, 10 and 11 year old baseball division and softball division
  • 10, 11 and 12 year old baseball division and softball division  - Little League Division
  • 13 and 14 year old (juniors) baseball division and softball division
  • 15 and 16 year old (seniors) baseball division

At the discretion of the league, players may be required to play up a division to ensure teams are formed and balanced (i.e. 11 playing on the 11/12 team)

Depending on available number of players, a team may or may not be formed at each division. QALL may combine with neighboring leagues to form an all-star team at a specific age group.

Although the selection process will differ by division, the selection criteria are the same for all divisions:

  • Teamwork
  • Sportsmanship/Attitude
  • Offensive skills
  • Defensive skills
  • Baseball "smarts"

Softball Player Selection Process:

The VP of Softball will in conjunction with the coaches of each softball division select the players. The teams will then be presented to the board for final review and approval.

Coach Selection Process:

1. Candidates for the All-Star Manager and Coach positions must come from eligible Managers and Coaches in the Majors Division, or for the 9/10 Team from the Majors or AAA Division.

2. Candidates must notify the All-Star Coordinator of their interest in either managing or coaching prior to the selection meeting on X date.

3. Manager will be selected by vote of the All-Star Committee:

a. The All-Star Committee is made up of the League President, the Baseball Division Vice-Presidents, the Player Agent and a "board member nominated by the President and approved by the board". If any of the committee members are conflicted (i.e. they are in consideration for a Manager or Coach role), they will recuse themselves from the committee and the board will nominate a new committee member to take their place.

b. The All-Star Committee will complete due diligence on the candidates which may include interviewing the candidates or other coaches/parents.

c. Each member of the All-Star Committee casts one vote for the Manager.

d. After Manager selection, the Manager must nominate two eligible Coaches and submit to the All-Star Committee for approval.

4. Upon approval of the Coaches by the All-Star Committee, the entire slate (Manager and Coaches) must be approved by the Board of Directors. If the Board of Directors does not approve the slate of candidates, the All-Star Committee must find an alternate slate of candidates to submit for approval.
